    NBC Universal quitte la plate-forme iTunes d'Apple

    Le géant d'Hollywood NBC Universal claque la porte au nez d'Apple, qui ne pourra plus distribuer en téléchargement sur iTunes ses films et ses séries télévisées, comme The Office ou Heroes. L'information a filtré dans le New York Times quelques jours après que NBC s'est associé au groupe de médias News Corp, pour lancer son propre portail vidéo financé par la publicité : Hulu.com.

    Cette défection intervient quelques mois après celle d'Universal Music, fililale de Vivendi, qui a refusé de reconduire son contrat de distribution à long terme avec iTunes, en mai dernier. Vivendi a cédé les studios Universal à NBC, mais reste actionnaire du nouvel ensemble à hauteur de 20 % aux côtés de sa maison mère General Electric.

    John Lennon Solo Catalog Debuts on iTunes Store

    Apple® today announced the debut of the John Lennon solo catalog on the iTunes® Store (www.itunes.com). Sixteen of Lennon's solo works from EMI Music are available for the first time on iTunes starting today, with the “Lennon Legend” and “Acoustic” collections making their worldwide digital debuts. For a limited period of 30 days, exclusive video content will be included with the albums “John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band,” “Sometime in New York City,” “Walls and Bridges,” “Milk and Honey” and the collections “Anthology” and “Working Class Hero.”

    Apple Announces Hit Television Programming Now Available on the iTunes Store in the UK

    Apple® today announced that hit television programming from ABC Studios, Disney Channel, MTV, Nickelodeon and Paramount Comedy is now available for £1.89 an episode from the iTunes® Store in the UK (www.apple.com/uk/itunes/). iTunes customers can choose from a wide range of popular primetime programming including the Emmy Award-winning series “Lost,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Ugly Betty” and locally-produced UK series such as MTV’s “Barrio 19,” Nickelodeon’s “Genie in the House” and Paramount Comedy’s “Comedy Blue.” The iTunes Store in the UK currently offers 28 television programs for purchase and download which can be viewed on a PC or Mac®, fifth generation iPod®, or on a widescreen TV with Apple TV™.

    iTunes Store To Stop Selling NBC Television Shows

    Apple® today announced that it will not be selling NBC television shows for the upcoming television season on its online iTunes® Store (www.itunes.com). The move follows NBC’s decision to not renew its agreement with iTunes after Apple declined to pay more than double the wholesale price for each NBC TV episode, which would have resulted in the retail price to consumers increasing to $4.99 per episode from the current $1.99. ABC, CBS, FOX and The CW, along with more than 50 cable networks, are signed up to sell TV shows from their upcoming season on iTunes at $1.99 per episode.
